Ms. Palermo a respected and beloved staff member of Colorado River Union High School District, passed January 27, 2011.

Ms. Palermo was a teacher, soccer coach, avid New York Yankees fan, and a lifelong learner. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester, and a Master’s Degree in secondary education from the State University of New York of Brockport.

Ms. Palermo honored Mohave High School students with her enthusiasm for mathematics. Her colleagues stated that she was the kind of teacher every parent would want their child to have. Mr. Leuck said, she was a “quietly strong leader and the students loved this quality.”

Ms. Palermo joined the Mohave team in 2006. Mr. Frei said, “I am especially glad to have been in her classroom and witnessed her impressive ability to motivate students as well as seeing her support at almost every athletic and cultural event that took place at the school. Truly, her shoes will be impossible to fi ll.” Mrs. LindaJoy Brown was blessed to be her mentor. Mrs. Brown said, “As tiny as she was, Valerie shone brightly in our world and will be sorely missed. Look at the people you pass in the hallways of life and remember their importance in your world; coworker or relative…we are all family.”
